Time Blocking

One of the things that I notice about the jewelry designers or creatives that I coach is that once they start to work for themselves they have a hard time knowing how to structure their day. I would love to share my technique with you.

What is Time Blocking anyway?

Time Blocking helps you prioritize tasks, improve focus, boost productivity and eventually schedule everything into your calendar.

How do you start?

First, have you ever done a Brain Dump? If not, here's a quick post I did that explains a Brain Dump. It will make the Time Blocking much easier if you've done a Brain Dump.

Once you have that done, I'll work with you on Time Blocking it into your calendar.

Time Blocking into your calendar:

  • Looking at your list, start to figure out where each task needs to go into your calendar.

  • Do they need to be prioritized?

  • Do they reoccur?

  • Do they have time constraints?

  • Do they need an alarm?

  • Did you allow for breaks for stretching =, bathroom and lunch?

  • Do you need to color code?

#ProTip- Use a timer to hold yourself accountable. It keeps you more focused, when you know you have a set amount of time to complete the task before the timer goes off.

✴I use my Google calendar that syncs with my iPad calendar. I use this for everything in my life. I color code all of my tasks so I know what or who is happening at a glance.

👉 Here's a Time Blocking Bonus:

I made this Time Blocking video for the designers in a jewelry group that I'm a coach in. It's an example of some of the tasks they use daily and weekly. Here is the link.

I hope this was helpful. I would love to know what you think or if you need further help let me know in the comments.
