The Woman Behind the Supermom Cape: Honoring Our Mothers

The Mother's Day tradition dates back to ancient civilizations. Many cultures had festivals to honor their mother goddesses and female deities, who were believed to have given birth to all of humanity.
The modern Mother's Day holiday was first celebrated in the United States in 1908, when Anna Jarvis organized a memorial for her mother who had passed away. She campaigned for a national holiday to honor all mothers, and in 1914, President Woodrow Wilson proclaimed the second Sunday in May as Mother's Day.
Honoring mothers on Mother's Day is a tradition that has since spread to many countries around the world, with varying customs and traditions. People give gifts, cards, flowers, and other tokens of appreciation to their mothers on this special day. It's always a day where families celebrate by having a meal together, participating in other activities that their mother enjoy, but most importantly -spending time together.
The Mother's Day tradition serves as a way to show appreciation and gratitude for the hard work, sacrifice, and love that mothers provide to their families. It is a time to recognize the important role that mothers play in shaping the lives of their children and the broader community. Ultimately, Mother's Day is a time to celebrate the selflessness and unconditional love of mothers everywhere, and to show them how much they are valued and cherished.
Are there any unique or different ways that your family has to celebrate Mom? We decided here at daVoria that we'd like to help you celebrate your Mom.
Last year we started a Honoring Mom's campaign. I started it with my Mom in mind. She has been a huge part of my jewelry journey and although she has been in spirit since I started she is a huge part of my business. You can read about her influence on me here. The Honoring Moms Campaign is our way of giving back to the people in our community.
In this campaign daVoria will pick one Mom for Mother's Day in May and one Mom during the holiday season in December. She will receive a daVoria gift certificate for one Signature Tag necklace of her choice.
Our first Mom that we gifted was Kim. She received a Signature Tag piece from daVoria for under her Christmas tree in the holiday season of 2022. With help from her Friend Tracy and her children we were able to pull this surprise off. You can read about her here.
We started this campaign off by picking Kim our first Mom. But this time we are opening up the Honoring Mom campaign for Mother's Day and we'd you'd like to participate in entering a Mom you'd like to be honored. Here is how it will work:
Make sure you are on our mailing list. Do that here.
We would like you to send us an email nominating the Mom of your choice. In that email include:
Place Honoring Mom Nomination in the Subject line of the email.
Write a couple of paragraphs about the Mom you'd like to nominate for this gift certificate and why. It doesn't have to be to long, maybe 200-300 words.
Deadline for submission is Sunday, April 30th at Midnight est.
Winner will be announced on Sunday, May 7th.
Dennis and I are really excited for this Honoring Moms Campaign. There will be one person we honor with a full gift certificate for one Signature Tag piece. And everyone that enters will get a $25 daVoria Gift Certificate for entering their nomination.
